Overview

A senior business executive/tech industry veteran who has spearheaded over $1B in aerospace and defense related busines spanning some 30+ years.

Sol Rauch has an extensive background in the aerospace industry culminating in his retirement from CMC Electronics Inc. (formerly Canadian Marconi Company). His career involved design, system engineering, program management, product/market/business development and he managed profitably the Avionics Division with sales of $90M. He has developed several businesses within CMC, and one in particular has earned more than $1B in revenue. Experienced in dealing with the senior management of many international aerospace companies.

Statement

Since his retirement from CMC he has supported a variety of companies, many being start-ups, with business development, engineering and program management services. He also served on the Defense Science Advisory Board that provides independent views on defense issues to the Department of National Defense. He is a graduate electrical engineer with an M.Eng and holds several patents to his name.

Business Experience

CMC Electronics (formerly Canadian Marconi) is a world class Avionics company involved in GPS,
Flight Management Systems, Cockpit Displays, Navigation Radars,
Adaptive Airborne Antenae for Satellite Communication and System Integration.



Employed at CMC from April 1962 to April 2000 and in that time led the following achievements,

1) developed unique solid state engine instruments for aircraft that resulted in more than $1B of revenue
2) Led the Company to be a leader in the use of flat panel display technology in the airborne cockpit.
3) Led the Company to become an aircraft avionics integrator.
4) Led the Company to develop airborne adaptive antenna technology
and capture 85% of the commercial aviation satellite communication antenna.
5) Led the Company to be the first in Canada to develop airborne GPS products.
